ここで目を引いたのは Hokkaido… ではなく most northerly という表現。
「最北」という意味を表すのにこういう表現があるんですね。
northerly に類する東西南北の単語を調べてみると、次のようになっていました。

よく使う northern, southern, western, eastern のおしまいの［-n］を外して［-ly］を付けた形になっています。
